Bonfire Night, A Week Late

Hey, all! Congrats on the big win yesterday (UNC 67 - 55 Michigan State)! I just wanted to check in and post some pictures of last weekend's festivities.

Saturday, November 5 was Bonfire Night in the UK. This super fun celebration commemorates the prevention of a seventeenth-century plot to blow up Parliament. Every year on November 5, the anniversary of 'the Gunpowder Plot,' British people light bonfires and set off fireworks.

After a failed excursion to the Meadows, my friend Calum, flatmates, and I hiked up Arthur's Seat to watch the spectacle. By 10pm we were huddled together and freezing, but, as much as I regretted leaving my leather gloves at home, I was completely transfixed by the exploding fireworks and the beautiful Edinburgh skyline at night.

All in all, one of the highlights of my study abroad experience. Pictures below. (Warning: my night photography skills don't do it justice.)

After many unsuccessful attempts, Cal gets a good shot of the skyline.

Until next time! Happy Saturday, y'all!

This year abroad looks so fun! Im most certainly encouraged to apply to UNC if these are the kind of opportunities on offer!
